The Dominator Of Darlington: David Pearson

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

South Carolinas Darlington Raceway is an egg shaped terror that has become known as the track too tough to tame. If thats true, David Pearson came pretty close”during his illustrious career, he posted 10 victories and 12 poles at Darlington. These are both records for one of NASCARs most unforgiving tracks. Pearsons ability at Darlington bordered on the unreal, and he was able to follow the conventional wisdom about performing well there better than anyone. The old saying is that you need to race the track, not the other drivers, but thats a lot easier said than done. Pearson, however, made it look easy.

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

Gegard Mousasi looked to be on his way to a submission loss to DREAMs self styled gator, Ronaldo Jacare, midway through the first round of their middleweight GP final match. Jacare had been successful keeping the fight on the ground, though Mousasi was able to fend off a submission. Jacare then made a fateful decision. After that he, never knew what hit him and by the time he regained consciousness Mousasi had his hand raised as the DREAM Middleweight Grand Prix champion.

Jim Zorn To Remain Redskins Coach Until End Of Season

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn is off of the hot seat-at least temporarily. After a recent swoon that saw him stripped of play calling duties for the NFL team, Zorn got a vote of confidence from upper management on Friday. His head isn’t entirely out of the noose, however, as the reprieve will last only to the end of the season unless some marked improvement is seen in the second half.

Giving Respect to Pearl Jam

Friday, October 30th, 2009

I just came across an article from a few years ago that stated that Americans chose Pearl Jam as the greatest American rock band of all-time in a survey. Don’t get me wrong – I really like Eddie Vedder and the rest of the band, but I was shocked to see Pearl Jam as number one!

The Five Greatest Alicia Keys Songs

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

When I’m speaking of her best five ever, I don’t mean that she’s at the end of her career. By no means is she near the end, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Alicia Keys churning out hits for another 20 years.

OU Heisman QB Bradford To Have Season Ending Shoulder Surgery

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Oklahoma’s junior quarterback Sam Bradford will likely opt for season ending shoulder surgery. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner was to announce his plans at a Wednesday night press conference, but that has been cancelled with no official word from Bradford expected before Saturday. Despite the delay, unnamed sources close to the situation indicate that there is “a very good chance” that Bradford will go under the knife in hopes of insuring a better opportunity with a NFL team next season.

The Legacy Of Bobby Hull

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Nicknamed The Golden Jet for his blond hair and his jet-like slap shot, Bobby Hull was the most feared goal scorer of the 60s and 70s He and teammate Stan Mikita were the first NHL players to use curved stick blades, which made his already wicked slapshot even more difficult to stop.

Which Ben Folds 5 Album Was Its Greatest?

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

One of my favorite bands since the 1990s was Ben Folds Five. A very unique band, they came up with a fresh sound last decade and took the music world by storm, producing some of the best music of the decade.
