The day after his 40th birthday, the Minnesota Vikings’ Brett Favre threw for 232 yards and a touchdown against one interception as his team easily beat the pitiful St. Louis Rams by a final score of 38-10. The Vikings are now 5-0 for the first time in six years and Favre is 5-0 for the first time in his Hall of Fame career. The Rams dropped to 0-5.

With one of the worst records in the NBA during the 2008-2009 season, the Thunder weren’t exactly one of the NBA’s more exciting teams. Still, fans came to watch them in droves, and only ten other teams had higher attendance marks than the Thunder did last year.

It is highly unlikely that you will not have heard of the French Open tennis championship, because it is a competition which is a regular topic of conversation. In French the name of the competition is ‘Les Internationaux de France de Roland Garros’ or ‘Tournoi de Roland Garros’. This tournament, which lasts for about two weeks is held in Paris at the Roland Garros Stadium, from which it got its name.

Former world heavyweight boxing champion Ingemar Johannson died at a nursing home in his native Kungsbacka, Sweden at the age of 76 early in 2009. No official cause of death was given, but Johansson recently returned to the nursing home after a difficult bout with pneumonia. Johansson had moved to the nursing home on the Swedish coast from Stockholm over ten years ago after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

The 2001 season was the beginning of a dynasty for the Pats, but it didn’t exactly start out that way. Drew Bledsoe went down to injury very early in the season, and the Patriots started out 1-2. Somehow, backup QB Tom Brady led them to an improbable win over a very dangerous Colts team.
